The PurFlo story began in 1994 when new parents Gail and Paul Whale became concerned about TV reports linking fire retardant chemicals in foam baby mattresses with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Like all parents they wanted only the best for their children, so Gail and Paul Whale decided to take matters into their own hands and designed their own foam free, fully breathable, fully washable mattress.
Before bringing it to the market, the PurFlo mattress then underwent extensive clinical laboratory research studies under the direction of Professor Peter Fleming CBE, Professor of Infant Health and Developmental Physiology at Bristol University and an acknowledged world leader in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
This research found that the PurFlo mattress unique permeable mesh surface supports and conforms better to a baby's shape than a conventional mattress, eliminates the risk of CO2 pooling on the mattress surface and being rebreathed by your baby and helps to regulate body temperature more effectively than a conventional mattress when used use with a sleeping bag.
